In Political Science there is a theory developed by Seymour Martin Lipset which states that the more developed a country is the higher the chances get that it becomes a democracy. Yet there are still some countries for which this theory doesn’t apply. Saudi-Arabia is one of them. This paper was written for a seminar at Bamberg University, and aimed to answer the question why Saudi-Arabia is an exception. It was marked with 1.7 (B+).
